Community Guidelines

Last updated: August 2, 2026

Think of these as house rules for the café. They exist for one reason: every conversation works better when both people can assume basic respect from the other side. The rules apply to the conversations you enter from CafeCam, and they are enforced — reports go to community review, and breaking the rules has consequences up to losing access.

Be respectful

Talk to people the way you would across a real table. Harassment, hate speech, threats, and degrading comments about anyone — including people not in the conversation — are not tolerated. Disagreement is fine; cruelty is not.

Respect the no

Any “no” — to a topic, a question, a request, anything — is complete on arrival. Repeating a declined request is pressure, and pressure breaks the rules. This applies double to anything involving the camera.

Be honest about who you are

Impersonating someone else, faking an identity, or running a deceptive profile undermines the entire premise of face-to-face chat. Verified labels exist to add context — do not abuse the trust they create.

No scams, no solicitation

Requesting money, running financial schemes, advertising services, or funneling people to external platforms for commercial purposes will end your access. If someone tries this on you, report it — those reports work.

Adults only, lawful always

The experience is for adults 18 and over. Any content or conduct that is illegal — anywhere it would apply — is an immediate, permanent line. There are no warnings for this category.

Use the tools honestly

Skip freely, block whenever you want, and report genuine rule breaking. Do not weaponize reports against people you simply disagreed with — false reporting wastes the review capacity that protects everyone else.

What enforcement looks like

Reported conversations are reviewed. Outcomes scale with severity — from warnings to permanent loss of access, with immediate removal for the serious categories above. The safety page explains the tools; the safe video chat guide covers the habits that pair with them.

That is the whole rulebook: respect people, respect the no, be real, keep it lawful. Everything else — the jokes, the accents, the cereal-is-soup debates — is yours.
